I have finally done it...I think.

Today is March 25, 2010. A while ago I gave thought to blogging more about myself, more of my thoughts and ….err my opinions. Not that I thought anyone would really care, but the reason I started blogging was to give myself a voice and to do some writing.
Today is that day.

Two weeks ago I went out of town to visit my aunt, and cousin. I had a wonderful time with them. We did so many things, but one thing that stands out is our trip to the Habitat for Humanity Store. If you have never been to one check out their web site to see if there is one in your area. The things in the store are incredible, things that have been left over from new construction and things that have come from a remodel of someone’s home. You can purchase wood, doors, windows, light fixtures, washers, dryers, the proverbial kitchen sink and yes even a Jacuzzi. The prices for these things are rock bottom. My cousin bought a bathroom sink for $15.00. It looked brand new. Most of the people who work there are volunteers and all money made goes back to Habitat for Humanity. What a great place.

As you can see from the above picture my aunt has a green thumb. This is her amaryllis that has been blooming since Christmas. Her Christmas cactus blooms at Easter. She has an extraordinary garden outside also that my cousin helps with.

The cats live in the house with my aunt. They allow her and my cousin to reside with them. They are nice enough, but of course not as grand as my cats, but then none are. The cat sitting on the stool likes to have my aunt sing Frere Jaques. The kitty will climb all over my aunt, giving her kisses. When my cousin gives the evening yell that it is, “Brushy time” the other cat comes running. Yeah, I know pretty special, but you don’t know mine.

These two pictures are of a lake near where my aunt lives. I promise it is a lake. I don’t live on either coast and the ocean has not frozen over. This is a huge lake and would take hours to drive all the way around it. You can not see the opposite shore. The ice won’t be out of the lake until late April.

Well there you have it. My first installment of things in my life.
I think I will leave for now, but will return with some things that I will do and not be doing on my blog. Again, not because anyone will really care but because I need to state these things for myself.

Someday I will learn how to do one of those fancy signature things but until then…

Thanks for stopping by,
Trudy

  1. Trudy, I love your new approach to blogging! Looking forward to hearing more...As for the signature thing...go to mylivesignature.com and it will guide you step by step. Very easy! I store mine in my email, and copy and paste it from there. About the cat that likes the song...I once had one that loved for me to sing, too. He could be outside, and I would open the door and sing the song "Sunny"--he'd come running, lay in my arms and listen while I sang "his song". LOL His name was Sonny! Take care, Kathy

  2. It is so funny that you mention the Habitat for Humanity Store. I just saw an add for one in our area yesterday and was intrigued. I guess I need to check it out soon.

That amaryllis is beautiful! I wish I had a green thumb like that. Not my gift.

Sounds like you had a good visit. I'm glad. :-)

  3. Looks like fun.
I am also changing the way I do my blog.
It is now turning into more of my journal. I know my kids and in-laws will appreciate it because they tell me so AND because I know I would love to read a "journal" of my mom or ancestors.
They draw back....I think I am losing visitors and comments. But I need to realize "WHY" I am blogging.....MY LIFE, MY HISTORY.
    Good luck!
