"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times."
They met on a bright summer afternoon.
At a wedding.
Love was all around.
They got caught in love's grasp.
They dated.
They played.
They teased.
They married.
They loved.
It was the best of times.
Life was hard.
They fought.
They made up.
They played.
They loved.
It was the best of times.
They grew older.
The fighting stopped.
The playing stopped.
The loving continued.
It was the best of times.
They needed glasses to see.
They needed aid to hear.
He needed help to eat.
She was the help.
The loving continued.
It was the best of times.
He forgot her name.
He forgot his name.
He forgot how to talk.
He forgot how to love.
It was the worst of times.

ohh - that makes me sad... Alzheimer's runs in our family, so the loss of memory and mind breaks my heart. it is the cruelest end to a life.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOUR for your supportive comment on my post today!
The cycle of life can really be difficult in the end. Your words were lovely, sad, and true. I love the way you write....
ReplyDeleteWhat a sad, true, but beautiful post. It reminds me of my husband's parents. He passed away 8 years ago after she took care of him for a good while...she's now 87 and her health is failing. There hasn't been a day in 8 years that she hasn't mourned for him.
ReplyDeleteI honestly would be happy to help you with anything....although, I don't think you need much help! We should just talk. Eamil me again and we'll go from there! Jan
